After trying to maintain two separate blogs for my main fitness activities--running and kendo--I've decided to return to my single blog format, at www.briansfitnessblog.blogspot.com. This was my original running blog, begun in December 2005 (and, after January 2006, my kendo blog as well), which I maintained pretty much without interruption until August 2012, when I divided my blogging into www.hoosierrunner.blogspot.com and www.brianskendoblog.blogspot.com.
I had good reasons for dividing my fitness blogging, but after reflection I think I have better reasons for returning to my old format. I'm finding that maintaining two separate blogs is increasingly difficult, given my very busy schedule. Nor am I finding that any more people read my two separate blogs than read my old Fitness Blog--just the opposite, in fact. And on a more philosophical level, I'd like to find ways to integrate my running and my kendo; two separate blogs just seems to be driving these two sides of my fitness life further apart.
So I will return to my Brian's Fitness Blog. I did solve the template worry (my template dated all the way back to 2005, and I was very worried that the format might become so obsolete that I might crash my blog entirely) by migrating the Fitness Blog to a new template. It doesn't look like much so far, but I'll tinker with it and spruce things up a bit.
For now, I'll leave both Hoosier Runner and Brian's Kendo Blog up. I'd like to find some reasonably practical way of migrating the entries in those two blogs back to my Fitness Blog, but I'm not entirely sure how to do that without creating a confusing mess. Anyone who is more tech savvy than me--meaning pretty much everyone--and has suggestions in this regard, please feel free to post in the comments section.

May 11: commencement day
No running today. I spent the entire day attending commencement ceremonies at my university--my fifteenth year for doing so. An enjoyable time, seeing students I've watched grow and learn over four years (or longer, sometimes) receive their diplomas.
May 10: and still another
Running: 5 miles. Stuck in a five mile rut, lately. Another such run along Lantern Road, during a cloudy sort of day. I also managed to stop by the Blue Mile--which is conveniently located on my normal running route--to order some badly needed new shoes.
This may have played some role in a stupid little accident. I rolled my ankle on a bad stretch of sidewalk in my neighborhood, and the darned thing was sore as heck. It even hampered my kendo class somewhat, later in the evening. Probably nothing serious, and I took Saturday off--but I badly need some new footwear.

May 8: not quite so tired

Running: 5 miles. Another good outdoor run, this time around Little Dog. Normally my Tuesday kendo class has me pretty worn down on Wednesday morning, but we had a rather odd class last night (a broken mirror, which meant we spent the last thirty minutes or so on cleanup duty, rather than pushing ourselves physically, as usual), so I had a little more in the tank.
May 7: back outdoors
